Solution of convex conservation laws in a strip

In this paper we consider scalar convex conservation laws in one space variable in a stripD =(x, t): 0 ≤x ≤1,t > 0 and obtain an explicit formula for the solution of the mixed initial boundary value problem, the boundary data being prescribed in the sense of Bardos-Leroux and Nedelec. We also get an explicit formula for the solution of weighted Burgers equation in a strip.     

Asymptotic analysis of stochastic programs

In this paper we discuss a general approach to studying asymptotic properties of statistical estimators in stochastic programming. The approach is based on an extended delta method and appears to be particularly suitable for deriving asymptotics of the optimal value of stochastic programs. Asymptotic analysis of the optimal value will be presented in detail. Asymptotic properties of the corresponding optimal solutions are briefly discussed.     

An interval iteration for multiple roots of transcendental equations

An iteration method for roots of algebraic functions with roots of multiplicity greater than one is established using tools and techniques from interval arithmetic. The method is based on an interval iteration functions for multiple roots and it retains the convergence order of the underlying iteration method while preserving global convergence over an initial interval. A number of simple examples are provided to show that the method is feasible and that it produces reasonable results.

教师课堂教学质量的定量分析

本文根据学生对教师课堂教学质量的评分建立指标评估体系 ,得到一次量化数据 .对一次量化数据进行统计分析 :粗差剔除 ,计算标准分 ,得到被评估者在各总体中的相对位置 .在此基础上 ,采用二次量化模型 ,最后得到在全校范围内的教师得分排序 .

0.5 mm金刚石X射线相位延迟板及偏振度的标定

在利用步辐射光源的偏振特性进行自旋相关X射线散射及吸收谱实验来研究材料的磁学性质时，需要应用圆偏振光，这就提出了对具有高通量、高偏振度' 长连续可调的圆偏振X射线的需求；另一方面标定实验所用X射线的圆偏振度也成为这一研究领域的关键技术。由于X射线多光束衍射强度与σ场和π场的光程差δ相关，通过测量圆偏振分析晶体的多光束衍射的强度分布，可以获得入射X射线的圆偏振度。实验在美国国家同步辐射光源实验室X25光束线实验站进行，光子能量为7．1keV的圆偏振X射线由线偏振X射线经过一厚度为0．5mm、晶面为[111]的金刚石晶体产生。通过测量多光束衍射强度，确定了斯托克斯参量。实验值与X射线动力学理论计算结果能较好地吻合。     

Thermal explosion in multiple phase media

Thermal explosion (or self-ignition) is one of the mainly interesting and dangerous phenomena in the combustion. Homogeneous combustible gas mixtures with highly exothermic reaction reveal only two main types of the behaviour: explosive and slow. Transient regime between these main types of behaviour is traditionally called the thermal explosion limit. Addition of another phase (solid or liquid) into combustible gas mixture can lead to essential changes in the dynamical situation. This paper deals with an interesting phenomenon of thermal explosion in two-phase media, so-called thermal explosion with delay. Existence and type of temperature delay before the self-ignition depends on mass and thermal properties of the second phase. The analysis is based on qualitative theory of singular perturbed systems and duck techniques.     

Geometry of optimal value functions with applications to redundancy in linear programming

In 1967, Wets and Witzgall (Ref. 1) made, in passing, a connection between frames of polyhedral cones and redundancy in linear programming. The present work elaborates and formalizes the theoretical details needed to establish this relation. We study the properties of optimal value functions in order to derive the correspondence between problems in redundancy and the frame of a polyhedral cone. The insights obtained lead to schemes to improve the efficiency of procedures to detect redundancy in the areas of linear programming, stochastic programming, and computational geometry.The author is indebted to G.
